Our Story

The South Sudan electronic TB register (eTBr) was developed in 2010, initially  for the TB control projects in Yei, Maridi and Rumbek. Due to the improved timeliness and accuracy of the quarterly TB reports from these three projects, interest in the eTBr started growing both locally and internationally.

In 2012, the electronic TB register was voted the Fan-Favorite Winner of the Innovate TB Contest.

Grand Challenges Canada via its prestigious bold ideas with big impact on global health awards, supported a scientific study (2013 to 2015) to ascertain by how much using an electronic TB registration system can improve TB treatment outcomes in Uganda and South Sudan. Based on these study results, the eTBr was rolled out throughout South Sudan in 2017.
